Mom and Dad with T
With the marathon behind me, we headed up from Newport to Seaside to show the kids some of the beauty of the coast. My parents came along up the coast with us. We stopped in Tillamook to watch cheese be made. Much to our dismay, we discovered that they don't work in the factory on the weekends. Go figure. A tourist spot doesn't work on the weekends? Seriously. Oh well. We still got cheese samples and ice cream!
We stopped quickly in Cannon Beach (which is my favorite spot on the coast) for some quick pics. I was pretty exhausted from running the marathon earlier that day, and the kids were doe being in the car, so it was a nice break.
We crashed at our hotel in Seaside and the kids immediately went swimming. It's funny how simple kids' needs are. You could be in the most beautiful place in the world and all they really care about is the swimming pool at the hotel. Makes vacationing pretty simple. The next day we headed down to the water. That lasted all of about 5 minutes. It was windy and the water was cold and they didn't want anything to do with playing in it. Maybe next time.
It was a fun weekend. I don't think I'll try to squeeze in a family vacation after running a marathon again. But fun nonetheless!
