Jake and Wyatt Reunite

Kelly decided to come visit Seattle for a quick trip with her two sons and Wyatt and Jake got to get together for a day of playing. It was so fun to see them back together. Jake and Wyatt were just two peas in a pod. Both smart, imaginative, not overly physical boys. We have yet to find a replacement friend that equals Jake and we probably never will...sigh...

For Christmas we had a nice family Christmas Eve Dinner up at my parents house in Everett. This is the first Christmas where they have had a home to come to for Christmas (since they had been living in a small apartment) I have to say it feels really nice to be able to go to their house of some Christmas festivities. It reminds me of being young when they were in charge. Oh, how I miss the days when I was the kid and got to just go lay down in bed and wake up to a room full of presents! For a brief bit I was the kid and my parents were in charge (of dinner). It felt good.

After dinner and the annual Nativity Scene Reenactment the kids opened up their customary new PJ's and then we headed back to our house, so Santa wouldn't get confused. My mom came up in the morning (since my dad was on in house call) and we enjoyed present opening and a yummy breakfast of coffee cake, eggs, bacon, OJ etc..

The big gift this year was the Wii. Something Wyatt had been pining away for for quite some time. It was a nice and uneventful Christmas. Just the way I like it. I am so grateful to have a family with whom I can share these memories. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I can't imagine it being very meaningful and fulfilling without them.

Here is a shout out to my little T Dog. He is a little over 1 1/2 years old and just the most chill kid you could possible ask for. A chubby chill kid I might add. I am so excited to see how this personality trait unfolds as he gets older

Every year, we buy a Costco Gingerbread House kit (FAR too lazy to make my own!). The kids love eating, ..I mean decorating the house. After a little too much sugar, the craziness ensued!

In honor of Wyatt's 7th birthday, I'm going to share 7 things I love about him:

1. Observant. Wyatt is a pretty even tempered kid. He loves to sit back and observe situations before he invests himself too much. Very unlike me, but I appreciate it so much. I think this trait will come in handy as he navigates through the rough teenage years.

2. Sensitive- Wyatt doesn't cry often but he is a bleeding heart. He really is aware of other people's feelings and is sympathetic to their sadness.

3. Serious- He has been this way since he was a baby. People could jump in front of him with funny faces and he would just stare at them with a straight face. Everyone always said, "He's so serious" and they are right. His 1st grade teacher even said in his recent report card that "he takes his learning very seriously and is a responsible learner" That's my boy!

4. Innately Good. I know all kids are "innately" good but Wyatt was just born to make good choices. The oldest. The responsible one. He thinks through his choices

5. He saves candy. He did NOT learn that from me. Whether it be Halloween or a birthday party or whatever, he paces himself through his candy. Such self control...I'd like a little of that!

6. His imagination. Whether its detailed stories he tells me or some awesome creation he built with his Legos, he has an amazing imagination. I just have to love on this characteristic while it lasts because growing up seems to suck it out of us.

7. His eyebrows. Who couldn't love them? Well, maybe he won't, one day, but I do! They are distinctive and combined with his 10 foot long eyelashes, just make his face look unique.

I love you Wyatt! Here's to another great year or your life!

Yet another year has gone by, yet another year of Chuck E Cheese party. Wyatt REALLY wanted another party there, so he invited some of his favorite friends. The amazing thing about that place is that you can spend 30 bucks on tokens that get you a Laffy Taffy and a cheap ring. Never have I paid so much for those things, but Wyatt and the kids had fun so that is all that matters.
